Brookstown Elementary’s gifted program blends acceleration and enrichment in a differentiated learning environment. Teachers collect data about student’s learning methods, levels of instruction, and interests to individualize instruction. From various grouping strategies to hands-on learning to collaborative and independent projects, students are continually engaged in challenging, relevant learning experiences from our dedicated team of gifted teachers. Teachers at Brookstown use innovative methods and strategies infused with creative activities to teach higher-level concepts and critical thinking skills and provide a unique learning experience beyond that of the regular education classroom.
The program at Brookstown is a collective effort in which teachers work closely together to provide the best instruction possible for students both academically and socially. Students get many opportunities to learn together and socialize across grade levels by attending field trips, our monthly gifted picnic, and collaborative class projects. At Brookstown, we feel we can maximize potential by providing our students with a learning environment that is happy, fun, and student-centered, with teachers who are attuned to individual needs.
Brookstown also offers a Talented Program in the areas of music, theatre, and art. These classes are taught by high qualified professionals and designed to bring out the potential creative talents in these identified students. Performances, productions, and exhibits give students opportunities to showcase their creativity to others.
